The Lovely Ladies of Quarter Moon Ranch

To raise donkeys that are above the average, an exceptional brood jennet is just as important as an exceptional jack. There is a phrase we use around Quarter Moon Ranch.....THE PROOF IS IN THE PROGENY! The brood jennets below have proven themselves as top producers, and their foals are above average as quality breeding stock and show prospects. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY GETTING TO KNOW SOME OF OUR GALS!

QUARTER MOON ELSIE
NMDA Champion Halter Jennet

Sire: Quarter Moon Barney, 34 1/2", Black/Brown
Dam: Quarter Moon Dixie, 31 3/4", Gray-Dun
Grandsire: Foust's Spunky, 29". Gray-Dun, NMDA National Halter Champion
Height: 32"
Color: Gray-Dun

Elsie is an exceptional little gal, not just because she's a Champion jennet, but because she is passing on those show winning qualities to her offspring. That's the REAL test of a Champion. Elsie is small and compact with an exceptionally straight topline and full rounded hindquarter. There is nothing to fault on this gal. We're very proud of her.

Elsie is bred to Quarter Moon Fistful of Dollars, 2003 NMDA National Champion and Best of Breed winner. She will foal in the Spring of 2006. This should be another spectacular cross.

QUARTER MOON GOLD NUGGET
Multiple Grand Champion Halter Jennet

Sire: Circle C Red Tape, 33", Dark Sorrel
Dam: Quarter Moon Mariah, 33 1/2", Brown
Height: 32 1/4"
Color: Brown

Pete and I are so attached to this gal and have been since the day she was born. Gold Nugget was born a winner. Her conformation at less than a month old was incredible. She has maintained that tremendous width in chest and hindquarter that she showed as a foal. Nugget is the definition of a stocky build. We like that. She will always be our baby "Nug".

Sire: S.S. Red Lightening, 32", Dark Sorrel
Dam: Circle C Peach Schnapps, 33 3/4", Light Sorrel
Height: 33 1/4"
Color: Sorrel

In 1999, I was asked by Sharon Cooke of Circle C Livestock in Alberta, Canada to speak at their sale and seminar. I was happy to accept because I had already decided to attend the sale with a mission to be high bidder on Marmalade. I was! Not only was I successful bidder, but Marmalade was the 2nd highest selling jennet at the sale. It seems as though I wasn't the ONLY one wanting to take her home. Marmalade's conformation is extremely good, and her color is a rich red. She has sorrel and dark brown throughout her pedigree.
