In addition to the fine herdsire candidates that are listed under BREEDING JACKS, we are proud to offer for sale below, some little boys that are now or will soon become geldings. We realize that many people who love miniature donkeys have NO interest in breeding them. Some want only to drive, pack or show their donkeys. Some folks like to take them to fairs, parades, civic and religious events, schools, and nursing homes. Others like having them around for the grandchildren. If any of these activities interest you, the miniature gelding is the perfect choice for several reasons.

    1. Geldings don’t have "breeding on the brain", thereby making them more docile and safe to be around than a jack.
    2. Geldings are generally more compatible with other farm animals than jacks and less competitive in most cases.
    3. Geldings are less expensive than breeding jacks or jennets.
The worth of a gelding to its owner is priceless. The gelding becomes a lifelong friend- one with whom you may share life’s ups and down, one with whom you can make memories that will last forever, and one with whom you can sit under a tree and share a cup of coffee and conversation with an animal whose only desire is just being close to you. Quarter Moon Ranch encourages the gelding of jacks because, in our opinion, he is the ideal pet- lovable and gentle, yet strong enough to be driven, ridden, or packed. So take a good look at the little boys we have for sale. Your new lifetime friend or "coffee buddy" just may be here.

2007 GELDINGS

QM ROCKEFELLER

DOB: 10-21-07
STATUS: SOLD

We were anxiously awaiting this foal out of our Quarter Moon Elsie who was bred to Sunset Acres Rowdy Yates, owned by Kathy and Kevin Loudamy of K and K Ranch. We wanted a black or brown jennet but we got a gray-dun jack! Nature can really throw you a curve sometime. But I will have to say, this is one of the finest gray-dun jacks born at our ranch. But why wouldn't he be? Elsie is an NMDA Champion Halter Jennet and the dam of Quarter Moon Top Dollar, the 2007 NMDA National Champion Jack and Best of Breed. Rockefeller's sire Rowdy Yates has produced NMDA champions and NMDA national champions. This boy has inherited the best of his parents. I'm very impressed with his straight legs, his rounded rear, his width, and heavy bone. Rockefeller should do well in the show ring both at halter and performance. He will make an outstanding show gelding, driving donkey, or pal for the ranch. Email for a quote if you would like to purchase him as a herd sire. He's a nice one!

QM DOUBLE TROUBLE

DOB: 10-30-07
STATUS: $750

Double Trouble is a hoot and lives up to his name. Our farrier was here when he was 2 days old and we put him and his mom in with the rest of the mommas and babies. He left his mom and made the rounds introducing himself to all the jennets, foals, and our farriers too. He never meets a strangers. We seriously thought of keeping him and showing him as a gelding, but decided to cut down our show string. His sire is Quarter Moon Blockbuster, the 2006 ADMS Reserve National Champion, 2008 Houston Livestock Show Grand Champion, and 2008 Texas Shootout Grand Champion. His dam is Quarter Moon Marti who has produced many fine offspring for us. Trouble's conformation is very good. He has the kind of width we like to see in the chest and rear legs. He's very dark and flashy and will make a fine show gelding and driving donkey. We're sold on this boy. If you are looking for a boy to take into the show ring and do well with, here's your donkey. If you are looking for a boy to enjoy around the ranch, here's your donkey. Trouble will keep you laughing.

2006 GELDINGS

QM FLASHDANCE

DOB: 6-30-06
STATUS: SOLD

The cross between QM Deacon and QM Emily has proven to be quite successful. It has produced Quarter Moon Flashback, 2005 ACOSA National Champion. It also has produced Quarter Moon Blockbuster, a rising star here at Quarter Moon Ranch and one of our junior herd sires. We gelded this boy only because we've had quite a few jacks recently. You will love his personality. If you are thinking about learning to drive a miniature donkey, Flash will make a terrific candidate and will look very flashy in harness. He's a dandy, has already been gelded, and is ready to take home and love.
